Hello world!

Hi!  I am Caryn.  Three years ago, I decided to take control of a piece of my life – my health.  Like most people, as I’ve gotten older, I realized I can no longer eat whatever I want and do whatever I want and expect to live a healthy comfortable life.  All my life I have hated exercise and healthy eating.  I was not an athlete – I am the girl who runs “like a girl” and was always picked last in school in every gym class for every sport – even when my best friend was the team captain.  I am also a type A personality in the sense that I am a little OCD when it comes to being prepared for anything, whether it be work, a vacation schedule, etc.  You know the type – if I’m not at least 15 minutes early, I’m late.  Yeah, that goes over really well in LA!

So three years ago, a friend of mine and several coworkers participated in the Inaugural Tinkerbell Half Marathon.  After seeing the posts on Facebook, I realized that not everyone runs, and that I wanted to set a goal to walk at least one Half Marathon.  Being type A, I knew that I would be super sore and likely not finish if I didn’t train to walk that distance.  That is how I forced myself into exercise.

Fast forward to 2015, and I’ve since participated in multiple 5Ks, a dozen 10Ks, and a dozen Half Marathons.  Some better than others – some walking, and some what I call running.  As a runner, I use intervals – I cannot run a straight 5K and I strive for endurance and to finish strong…..Not speed.  Currently, I am training for my first full in January 2016, and I plan to document my journey.

I am just “Running My Life”.
